“For a temporary staffing business, timely collection of accounts receivable is crucial because staffing agencies have to pay the people they place on a weekly basis, (while the customers often choose to take their time paying their bills). While many staffing agencies rely on a factoring company to fund their operations, I chose, instead, to engage DCS to take over our accounts receivable collections in 1994. DCS jumped right in and quickly improved the resolution of the collections. While our revenue was growing at 40% a year, its A/R was growing at about half that pace. We were so pleased with DCS's efficiency and maintained level of success that we outsourced our billing function to them in 1995. After they mastered that process, we outsourced our entire cash applications function to them.
Then in 1999, I was enlisted to start a financial services business within our company -- AFS. As with the staffing business, the factoring business relied heavily on our ability to manage an accounts receivable portfolio. After several months of doing this function in-house, I once again turned to DCS to take over this function -- and again, they cost-effectively beat our performance.
